Surfing Courses
Surfing courses are the best way to get into surfing. Surfing is an incredibly easy sport to pick up but will take you a lifetime to master and by starting with a surfing course you'll learn some good habits to get you started and you'll get a lot more out of your surfing holiday.
What's will you learn on your Surfing Course?
Generally surfing courses are divided into 2 broad categories - beginners and advanced surfing courses. On a beginners surfing course you should be taught about water safety, surfer awareness, paddling out, popping up and how to catch a white water wave.
Advanced surfing courses will focus on catching blue/green waves, quick starts, turning, technique and style.
If a surf instructor refers to you as a grom don't be offended - (it means beginner surfer) and it's really a term of affection.

Ideally you want to learn at a BSA (British Surfing Association) approved surfing school. If you are learning abroad your surfing school might be absolutely excellent but not BSA approved. Look for how long they've been going - what their policy is if there's no surf and whether their instructors speak good engish.
